Add your charger

Any OCPP 1.6 charger works: wallbox or fast charger. The wizard walks you through four stages: Site, Charger, credentials, and first connection.

Step 1: the site

1. Enter a Site name. Drivers see this on the map.
2. Enter the Street address and City, or tap Use my current location to fill them in automatically.
3. If the location lookup fails, enter Latitude and Longitude yourself. Without coordinates, drivers cannot find the charger.
4. Optionally add How to reach the charger for any access detail drivers should know, for example: "ask the attendant, bay 3 behind the pumps".

Step 2: the charger

1. Enter a Charger name, for example "Bay 1".
2. Choose a Charger type. Select AC for home and destination charging: most wallboxes and pedestals. Select DC for fast and ultra-fast chargers: drivers filter for these on road trips.
3. Select the Connector type fitted to your unit.
4. Enter the Maximum power (kW). Common-rating presets are shown, from Home AC to Ultra-fast DC.
5. Optionally enter the Max voltage and Max current (A) from the unit nameplate.
6. Set the Price per kWh. You can change this later.
7. Optionally add photos of the charger and site. Up to the shown number of photos are accepted, 8 MB each.

Step 3: enter these into the charger

1. The screen shows three values: Endpoint, Charge point id and username, and Password. Use Copy all to copy them in one step.
2. Open your charger's OCPP settings. Depending on your model, this is its companion app, web panel, or installer menu.
3. Type in the three values exactly as shown.
4. Press I have entered these when done.

Your charger connects over an encrypted connection (OCPP Security Profile 2: TLS with basic auth). There is no certificate to install.

Step 4: first connection

The page shows "Waiting for the charger to call home". This can take a few minutes on a slow connection. Keep the page open: it keeps listening.

If the page stays quiet, check these four things in order:

1. The unit has power and is switched on.
2. The SIM or network cable is connected.
3. The charge point id and password were typed exactly as shown.
4. The endpoint address matches what we gave you.

Once the charger connects, the page confirms: "Your charger is online: it can take a session and start earning."
